Cranium Date Night

Jake planned a date for us last night. We love to play games, so he decided that we would go to a thrift store and look for a game. I was so excited when we found one of my favorite games (in excellent condition) for only $1.99
The only thing that it didn't come with was play-doh
Jake had to sculpt a toilet.

Me and Jake playing. (Our faces are burnt from play tennis.) I love having such creative dates that are so inexpensive!

favorite summer activities

I love being outside in the summer. I do not like being indoors unless it is over 100 degrees:) Jake and I have been going on bike rides, jogging, and picnics. But my all time favorite new activities are...

TENNIS and FRISBEE. So fun. You should all try it.

Flower Headbands

A lady at work taught me how to made these headbands. I think they are super cute. I had a friend and her daughter over this morning and we each made a couple. So much fun!

Lightning McQueen

Jake and I had so much fun decorating the cardboard box we decided to make an actual cake. It was Jake's idea to do Lightning McQueen. He made it with Ashlynn and Owen in mind. We go to Jake's brothers house every Sunday for dinner. Teri and her kids have been out of town for the last 6 weeks visiting Teri's family. We wanted to do something special for them. This is what we came up with from start to finish.

Fondant

As most of you know, Jake and I love to bake. We would love to someday own a bakery. We love making desserts the most and enjoy being in the kitchen together. We have talked about trying fondant.. for a long time. We started watching Cake Boss this week and got a bit of inspiration/motivation. We have not been trying new things lately because we have been so busy with summer school. We decided today that we were going to take a break and learn how to make fondant and decorate a cake.... or a cardboard box.

Now that we have learned that fondant is a lot of work but is not that scary.. now we are looking for any excuse to make a real cake. :)

Healthy Summer Treat

One ingredient Ice Cream!
I got this recipe from ourbestbites.com
All it is is frozen bananas. It sounded good so I just had to try it out, yes Jake and I had ice cream for breakfast but it is healthy.
If you have any bananas that are starting to go brown chop them up and freeze them. Once they are frozen you just put them in a food processor and it turns into banana ice cream, Serious! I had to take pictures to prove it.

Frozen Bananas
Blending it
almost done.. it look grainy until it's mixed together
All done.. Ice cream in a few minutes.
It turned out good, I am not a big banana fan but liked the ice cream. You should give it a try! Also you can try adding frozen strawberries, peanut butter, or nutella.

911

This last Sunday Jake and I had Ryan over for dinner. Jake and I were in the kitchen and we hear a loud popping noise. We looked out back and didn't see anything. We then hear 2 more loud bangs... we looked out the front window and our neighbors Condo was on fire. There were flames up to 40 feet. Jake grabbed his phone to call 911 as we all ran down the stairs, but the fire department was just getting there. It was a 90 year old woman who's condo burnt down, she got out okay. It was so scary to see someones house burn and how fast the fire spread.

The car on the left is what stated the fire... The popping noises we hear were the tires exploding on the van.
