Yesterday morning was cold and windy. It started warming up and ended up being a pretty nice day. I took the boys outside and dyed Easter eggs. They were having a blast. I believe most of the boys have never done this because they had no idea what to do. I am glad we did it, it was a blast. The boys were being very creative!
Lots of dye and eggs!
Last night Jake and I put together some Easter baskets for the boys. I have so much fun doing things for the boys, they are always so appreciative!
One day I was talking to my friend Brandy about how I wanted to put in a garden. We have a big spot we could do one, but it would take this whole summer just to get it ready. So she told me about square foot gardening. We even took a free gardening class together one Saturday. I got very excited to do it. The guy at the class said you can get more food out of a boxed garden then the traditional row garden.
This was the start of our garden spot. The boys went out and cleared the wood, and leveled the ground.
Brandy and her husband built the boxes for us. They are the best!!
Here is the finished project. I can't wait until we can plant food!
What we are going to plant:
Corn
potatoes
tomatoes
beans
peas
peppers
strawberries
lettuce
squash
zuchinni
cucumbers
As everyone knows I love birthdays! But I especially love my birthday. I was really looking forward to it this year since it was my 25th, and then I got sick. I was flat on my back in bed for 2 1/2 days.
Jake and I celebrated my birthday together on the actual day, and the day after we celebrated with our boys. Jake got me premier tickets to see the new movie Hunger Games. I loved it. I thought it was such a good movie and I can't wait to see it again. After the movie he took me to Sizzler for dinner. The next day we had a party with the boys. For the month of March our office had a contest to see if we could go the whole month with not sweets, with the exception of one free day. We waited and used the free day for my party. So we had lots of goodies.
Jake made my favorite Coconut Lime cupcakes
We played minute to win it games. Jake had 5 games that we played, this is where you start with a cookie on your forehead and wiggle it down and catch it in your mouth.
Brandy got it on her first try!
Kael concentrating to get the cookie
Jake also made a chocolate cake. It looked delicious!
And he made a coconut lime cake. The flowers on it are made of dried pineapple.
For dinner we got pizza dough and toppings and everyone made their own personal pizza. It was such a fun party. Thanks Jake for planning it!
Jake got my a new purse and wallet, and a bodymedia. One of my boys got me a picture frame, we took a picture together and I am going to put it in my room. What a great birthday!
Recently Jake and I have been into making cupcakes. I love looking up new recipes online and trying them out. The boys love taste testing them for me!
Jake made these green ones. They are Mt. Dew cupcakes. There is dew in the batter and in the frosting. They are very citrusy. I thought they were very delicious but Jake did not like them.
One weekend Jake took some of the boys fishing and I was home with 2 of the boys. We decided to make mini cupcakes with different flavored frosting. That night when everyone go home we taste tested so see which flavor was the best. We made coconut, cherry, strawberry, and raspberry. Strawberry won but if it was up to me and Jake coconut would have won!
The boys thought it was pretty awesome when we dyed the milk green for St. Patty's Day. For the next couple days each morning when we opened a new milk they would dye it. We have a variety of colored milk, but my favorite colors where purple and turquoise.
